Fixed-Energy Random Coding with Rescaled Codewords at the Transmitter

چکیده
This paper proposes a new method to reduce the error rate of channel codes over an AWGN channel by renormalizing the codewords to a constant energy before transmission and decoding with the original codebook. Evaluation of the randomcoding error exponent reveals that this normalization technique approaches the constant-composition error exponent for certain pairs of rate and signal-to-noise ratio.

Layered Coding for Energy Harvesting Communication Without CSIT
Due to stringent constraints on resources, it may be infeasible to acquire the current channel state information at the transmitter in energy harvesting communication systems. In this paper, we optimize an energy harvesting transmitter, communicating over a slow fading channel, using layered coding. The transmitter has access to the channel statistics, but does not know the exact channel state....
متن کاملA Random Coding Bound for Rate k / n Fixed Convolutional Codes ∗
SUMMARY In order to guarantee pairwise independence of codewords in an ensemble of convolutional codes it is necessary to consider time-varying codes. However, Seguin has shown [1] that the pairwise independence property is not strictly necessary when applying the random coding argument and on this basis he derives a new random coding bound for rate 1/n fixed convo-lutional codes [2]. In this p...
متن کاملRelations Between Random Coding Exponents and the Statistical Physics of Random Codes
The partition function pertaining to finite–temperature decoding of a (typical) randomly chosen code is known to have three types of behavior, corresponding to three phases in the plane of rate vs. temperature: the ferromagnetic phase, corresponding to correct decoding, the paramagnetic phase, of complete disorder, which is dominated by exponentially many incorrect codewords, and the glassy pha...

متن کاملError exponents of typical random codes
We define the error exponent of the typical random code as the long–block limit of the negative normalized expectation of the logarithm of the error probability of the random code, as opposed to the traditional random coding error exponent, which is the limit of the negative normalized logarithm of the expectation of the error probability. For the ensemble of uniformly randomly drawn fixed comp...
